What We Do
Messiah’s Mission & Discipleship PlanGROW UP
I connect with God through weekly worship and spending time daily in the Word with God.
The first step to becoming a disciple of Christ is to worship Him, but that is not enough. We also need daily time with Him, to hear from Him, through His Word.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” ~ Matthew 11:28-30
“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night.” ~ Psalm 1:1-2
GROW IN
Our second step in the discipleship process is to grow in community with others. God did not intend for us to go through this life alone.
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” Acts 2:42
GROW OUT
Our process of discipleship comes to a peak as we join Jesus in His mission, serving others wherever we happen to be — in our schools, neighborhoods, and workplaces. Our discipleship process never ends, however, as we are always growing and just as someone is always leading us through the process, so we, also are continually restarting the cycle by leading others to be disciples.
“And Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day, right up to the end of the age.”” ~ Matthew 28:18-20 The Message
